Answers

What is the eligible age for players?
As part of the 2010 ITF Junior Circuit, the new Western Canadian Junior ITF Circuit is a series of tournaments for players aged 18 and under. The 2010 Circuit is open to players born between January 1st, 1992 and December 31st, 1997. However, players may not participate in any ITF Junior Tournament unless they have reached their thirteenth (13) birthday before the start of the main draw.

In accordance with the ITF Junior Age Eligibility Rules, players are limited on the number of tournaments that they are permitted to participate in, in a calendar year according to their age.

How do I register for an ITF Junior Circuit tournament?
All players entering ITF Junior Circuit tournaments agree, as a condition of their entry, to register for annual International Player Identification Number (IPIN) Membership and pay the appropriate fee. All ITF Junior Circuit entries and withdrawals should be made online via the IPIN Online Service at https://ipin.itftennis.com. For additional tournament entry process details click here.

How will the winners of the 2010 Western Canadian Junior ITF Circuit be selected?
The junior boy and girl with the most ranking points earned while playing the 2010 Western Canadian Junior ITF Circuit tournaments will be acknowledged as the 2010 Western Canadian Junior ITF Circuit Champions. Should the Circuit Champion be a Canadian, then the junior player will be eligible to play in the 25th edition of the National Bank Canadian Open Junior Championships in Repentigny. See Repentigny qualifying wild card FAQ for more details.

How are junior ITF ranking points calculated?
The 2010 Western Canadian Junior ITF Circuit will use the ITF Combined Junior Ranking method of calculating ranking points based on the results from the three Junior ITF tournaments that take place during July 2010 in Edmonton, Vancouver and Winnipeg. A player's ranking points are calculated using up to three singles results plus one quarter (25%) of up to three doubles results. The top junior boy and girl are named 2010 Western Canadian Junior ITF Circuit Champions.

Should there be a ranking points tie, the winner will be selected in order of (1) head-to-head results from singles matches that took place during the 2010 Western Canadian Junior ITF Circuit, (2) points results at the end of the Canadian U18 ITF World Ranking Event 2010, and (3) points results at the end of the Canadian Saville ITF U18 2010. For more information on the ranking methodology, please see ITF Combined Junior Ranking.

What is the criteria for Repentigny qualifying wild card selection?
Should the 2010 Western Canadian Junior ITF Circuit Champion be a Canadian junior boy or girl, they will be eligible to participate as a wild card qualifier in the 25th edition of the National Bank Canadian Open Junior Championships in Repentigny. Not only must the junior boy or girl be the top ranking points earner for the 2010 Western Canadian Junior ITF Circuit, but must also meet the Canadian citizenship requirements as defined by Tennis Canada used to determine Canadian Junior Nationals eligibility. What are the onsite sign-in requirements for a junior ITF event?
There are three sign-in periods, which include:

Qualifying – Each player (with the exception of Wild Cards who are in contact with the Referee) must sign-in personally on site with the Referee by 6.00 p.m. (1800 hours) the day
before the start of play in the Qualifying competition. Under exceptional circumstances the Referee may accept a telephone sign-in, but only from the Referee of the tournament at which a player was participating or the ITF
office.

Main Draw – Singles: Each player accepted into the main draw (with the exception of Wild Cards who are in contact with the Referee) must sign-in personally with the Referee by 6.00 p.m. (1800 hours) the day before the start of the main draw.

Main Draw – Doubles: Each player must have entered and signed-in personally with the Referee by 12.00 p.m. (1200 hours) on the first day of the singles main draw. Under exceptional circumstances the Referee may accept a telephone sign-in.

Can I enter a junior ITF tournament if I've missed the registration deadline? What is an onsite alternate?
There is an opportunity to register onsite for a junior ITF tournament provided there are vacancies in the draw. Onsite alternates are eligible players who appear at the tournament site at their own risk to fill a possible vacancy. In order to be eligible as an onsite alternate, a player must comply with the ITF selection of competitors criteria (i.e. must have an ITF IPIN), must have completed an official entry form and must personally sign-in with the Referee on site. See details on onsite sign-in requirements.
